Dear Sir or Madam:
My wife and I own Shean Properties Ltd. and the property at 1114 North College Avenue in Bloomington.
Directly to the north of our building is 1116 North College Avenue which is owned by Robert Grabbe. His home has been a mess since we acquired this property in 1994.
I believe that Mr. Grabbe has abandoned the building. The postal carrier has told us that homeless people are living inside. The lawn has not been cut in months and I haven’t seen Mr. Grabbe in 3 months.
It is time for the City to exercise its authority under the Unsafe Building Law and remedy this situation. At the very least the grass should be cut and the broken windows boarded up.
Thanks,
John

The property 616 N Plymouth Rd has not been occupied for many years. (We have lived at our current address for over 19 years.) While the grass is mowed, there is now a dead tree on the side of the property that periodically falls into Beacon Ct after storms. In addition, there is a broken window in the front and evidence of animals inside. The entire property is slowly decaying and is becoming quite an eyesore.

Sent Monday, May 21: "I have been to your office to complain about the mess at 823 w. 7th street. The front porch is covered with trash that has been accumulating for 15-20 years. The back and side yards are overgrown and contain litter and receptacles that can fill with standing water. The property is a breeding ground for mosquitos, rats, and other pests. I and several neighbors believe it poses a risk to public health. Your enforcement officer took a look, but told me that nothing was ticketable. I respectfully disagree. While the overgrown vegetation is not “turf grass”, it is a menace and eyesore. The garbage on the porch attracts human as well as animal pests. It invites others to litter and dump on the property.
Although I was at your office, I was not given a complaint form to sign. Nor was I able to submit a complaint on your website. (I don’t know why unless it was my iPad) I definitely want to file an official complaint and have it kept on record. I also ask you to reconsider and help us to clean up this blight on the neighborhood.
Thank you."
