My water suddenly started having an orange tint. I notice when I was filling up my dog's water. The water went from clear, then changed to a light orange tint. I noticed around 9:00pm 11/8/2018
The water department dug this hole in my yard along with another huge hole earlier this summer. The other was filled and reseeded but this never was.
SE corner of lot just west of alley and close to the sidewalk there is a medium-sized, water-meter pit that is uncovered. Lid is not around, apparently. Dangerous trip hazard at night, and animals could fall in.
Small (~7" diameter) metal access cover (valve down there?) labeled "Water" in the middle of 10th street on the east side of the intersection with Dunn is damaged, completely missing the central portion of the lid and creating a hazard if someone steps in it or a small animal falls in. There is also another one with nearly an identical problem (or completely missing) about 50 feet west at the intersection of 10th and a funny little road named "Prow".
There is a "CBU" orange/white-striped horse-type warning sign sitting by the street (12th Street side) that has been there awhile without any apparent reason.
There is a large Tree of Heaven invasive species growing where the Uplift Pump is located just west of my address, 4325 E. Weymouth Lane in Parkridge East. I have tied yellow duck tapr around t to make it easier to see. Please remove this tree and any of its' off shoots as it is rather large now and will present a sidewalk safety issue. Thank you.
I tripped on this manhole cover and am worried that someone else may do the same. Is there anything that can be done to mitigate a potential future issue?
Wednesday, August 9 The catch basin on the west side of the street just north of where the Indiana Rail Road crosses Pete Ellis Drive seems to be plugged somewhere underneath the road. Debris doesn’t pile up on the grate the way it used to, and the large puddle I observed after this afternoon’s thunderstorm was draining only slowly. For years there has been a strong sewer smell in the this area. (I have paid for plumbers to examine my house and the problem is not in the house.) As the cable workers have been laying the cable, I asked various if they also smelled the sewer odor and if they knew where it might be coming from. There were three basic answers: (1) A "lift station" in one of the drains may be faulty; (2) the terrain where sewage may back up at the crest of the hill; and (3) the manhole cover between houses at 909 West Gourley Pike is old and may be corroded so that the sewer gas is able to escape.
called into city hall - K.Cummings, AHA inputting this issue -- John stated that he has called several times regarding this issue - there are two storm drains, one directly in front of his residence and another that is across the street that are in need of repair. John advised that the grates are too low, causing them to consistently get debris on them, causing flooding.
