Parks & Playgrounds

I just want to thank you for your prompt care at the Highland Village Park today. Just this morning I submitted a request about a hornet's nest in the park that I was afraid jeopardized the children, as it was right next to the playground. I just went over to the park this evening and saw that the nest had been removed. Thank you!! Great job!

Broken glass by the stone blocks on the north side of the tot playground at Bryan Park. Large pieces were picked up, but there are still small shards on the sidewalk between the large stones (just northeast of the bee riding toy, right in front of the stone block the farthest to the west).

I wanted to comment on the no pet rule in your park. We came here for 16 u nationals( which where run very nicely) and we brought our pet. I understand the no pet policy, but when you host an event like this, it is OK to make exceptions. Most pets that travel 3-4 hours are not going to be a problem. When you in vite people into your community, you need to open up the hospitality a little. The hotel we stayed at had a no pet policy, but allowed us to keep our 100# St Benard pup in our room at no additional charge. ( they made an exception). I'm just disappointed I had to sit beyond the outfield fences

Parks & Rec Programs

Who would I contact about working with the Movies in the Park program for 2016? I am an archivist at the Black Film Center/Archive at IU and our staff is interested in learning more about how we could become involved with the city to program a film featuring African American artists. Is there an official proposal form or guidelines? Thanks! Ronda L. The pressure in the water fountains in Sherwood Oaks Park, where the B-Line crosses Country Club Road, and the water fountain next to the Second Street Kroger is low. Does anyone check to see if the fountains are working properly? I almost have to lick the faucet like a dog to get a drink of water.

My question is about the lack of mowing in the middle of Sherwood Oaks Park. Is the plan for this park to make the old football field into woods? The trees in there are several years old now and beginning to shade the "trail" around the park. Shoudn't someone bush-hog this part of the park? One of the things I have always enjoyed about this park is the black raspberries that grow on the western side of the old field. The new trees in the middle are starting to shade this area, and soon those berries will fade away, as they prefer "edges" with sun to the east of them. The same sort of thing is happening in Olcott park, so I am guessing that this is part of your plan, but if it is not a real plan, can someone come and cut all that brush down? Thanks! Kim

Bike air pump at bike repair station (at Grimes and B-line trail) is broken. It seems to be missing the pump handle from the air pump, and is not functional as an air pump.

There's a section of the paved path in the low part of the Rev Butler park that is totally blocked by leaning and fallen trees and grapevines. They make the path impassable. Thanks for looking into this.
