A tree of about 8 inches DBH and located about a foot from the curb on S. Highland Ave. has a lot of poison ivy on it. The poison ivy extends about 2 feet over the street, so is a danger to pedestrians and cyclists (there is no sidewalk on either side of this block of Highland). Furthermore, the ivy has several large clusters of green, immature seeds (see both photos). It is therefore imperative that all of this ivy be removed or killed soon, before the seeds mature and are spread by birds. The tree and poison ivy are located across the street (Highland) from a bright blue house (this is at the corner at E. Wylie and Highland). Thanks for taking care of this. Jeff Palmer

I am writing to report a broken tree limb that poses a safety concern. It appears that the limb was damaged during the storm we experienced at the end of March 2023. The tree in question is located on city land outside of my property boundary at 1301 W. 8th Street in Bloomington. The broken limb is specifically situated at the intersection of Adams Street and 8th Street, where there is a significant amount of pedestrian traffic. The footpath visible in the attached picture is frequently used by pedestrians crossing from the sidewalk on Adams Street onto 8th Street. The presence of the broken tree limb in this area creates a potential safety hazard for pedestrians. Additionally, there is a slight concern that the broken limb obstructs the view of the Adams Street bridge for drivers turning right onto Adams Street from Fountain. This obstruction may affect the visibility of oncoming traffic, potentially leading to traffic incidents or delays. I kindly request that the relevant department of Bloomington takes immediate action to address this issue. It is crucial to ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists in the area by removing the broken tree limb and conducting any necessary tree maintenance or inspection. The tree on the right side of the house which is facing W twin oaks ridge is impassable on the sidewalk. Children walk home from school this route and the sidewalks need to be cleared of low hanging tree limbs. Thank you!

I thought there was a street tree category but I can't find it. Nevertheless, I need to report a hazardous dead Ash tree at the corner of my property at W. 11th St and N. Oolitic Dr. It's the tree right next to the Oolitic street sign. The specific address is 1510 W. 11th aka Forest Homes Addition Lot 48. The tree constantly drops extremely large limbs onto the property, the sidewalk right below, and into the edge of the street. Due to the size of the tree, the limbs wouldn't just leave a slight bruise if one fell on a person. Obviously, I understand the difficult situation we find ourselves in at the moment, but I'm hoping this tree can be removed asap. On Thurs, April 30, Bluestone will be removing a large dead tree on my property and I am also paying them to remove a couple large, dead branches from this Ash tree. That won't take care of what is higher up, though. Thank you.

Pictured above: the view from a bicycle seat as cyclist (on a bike path/sidewalk) approaches the circular loop at the southern end of the Grimes/Patterson parking lot. (Note: the problem I want to highlight is similar when cyclist is heading south towards that "roundabout" from the north on the bike/ped path). And the problem is this: a cyclist can easily not notice until too late that there is no curb cut to allow easy entry to the loop. YES, for safety reasons, the city probably decided NOT to be a curb cut there. Fine. BUT PLEASE, consider a very visible barrier so cyclists can see in advance that they should not proceed forward OR, at least, put some bright yellow paint or striped yellow-black paint on the curb as an attention grabber. Needed on both the south side of the loop and the north side. THANKS!

Oak trees on street in front of house hang over sidewalk so pedestrians have to duck. One tree was also hit by a truck this week and a branch is now hanging down and obstructing the street.

Duke Energy would like to remove the tree as it may obstruct powerline work. We were contacted at Olympus Properties for removal approval, however, given that the tree is on the street side of the sidewalk, we were not sure if this tree may actually fall under city property. Is this tree property of the city of Bloomington?

The sidewalk at the north edge of the Goat Farm is covered with mud and water. I reported this on 3/30, #172124, and it was cleaned up. The problem appears to be a lack of drainage causing the standing water and residual mud.
