Speed bumps/rumble strips. Pedestrian crossing light. I’ve been almost run over numerous times here in the crosswalk people are going 40 or 50 miles an hour—-very dangerous for pedestrians crossing.

Many students have to jaywalk every day here to catch a bus, and 99% of drivers don’t understand the situation. If you do a quick search, you'll realize this has been an ongoing safety issue for 5–6 years. I’ve raised it before (last year and again this year), but nothing has changed. Please consider adding a sidewalk to improve safety.

I am interested in completing your survey on possible alternatives to the current traffic configuration on Walnut and College but I cannot get it to load properly. I’ve tried on a couple of computers without success, and some friends have similar stories. Please consider changing the survey, maybe with smaller files and more text descriptions, so it can load more easily. Your results are going to be skewed if you don’t and you will be making decisions without feedback from people who care. Thank you.

Referring to case #203052, closed on 5/30/2025 as an ongoing enforcement case. License plate still is not current. Is from 2016 (used to be 1975 until last summer, when it was replaced), but this is not visible now because there is a glove hanging over the year sticker.

Instead of slowing down when motorists see pedestrians attempting to cross 3rd Street, they instead often speed up and appear to only have their eyes on the stoplight ahead of them and other cars, especially westbound traffic when the pedestrian is crossing the crosswalk from The Burger Bar to head south to the other side where the apartments, bus stop, and Pizza X is. East bound traffic is only slightly more gracious (likely because their eyes aren't fixed on a stop light that is around the corner and somewhat out of view.) Obviously, I would not walk out right in front of a car, but only cross when the Westbound traffic is high up on the hill, but they accelerate driving downhill regardless what color the stop light across from the police station is. They accelerate for red lights, even though they are hurrying up to wait. Just overall hostility and carelessness at this cross walk. Perhaps a push button with flashing lights would be appropriate here since drivers ignore the pedestrian signs and painted cross walk.

An old house was demolished on Friday 7 Nov. It had been clad in cement tiles, likely asbestos-containing transite. It appears that there was no attempt to isolate the hazardous waste from the bulk, so is it now all classified as hazardous? If so, is the contractor required by the State to dispose of the mass of waste resulting from the demolition in a special way, or perhaps into a designated landfill that accepts such waste? Attached is a picture of tiles that were left strewn about on the alley (a public thoroughfare) after the demolishers drove away. In the days since, people and/or animals have been stepping on the tiles and crushing them, possibly releasing friable asbestos fibers. There is a dog living immediately across the alley from this now toxic site. Is it unsafe for the dog to walk on the ground in this area? Or does the City even care about such things? Maybe it would it be better to just look the other way and let the people with money do whatever they please (?)

The new bicycle storage cubes are not benefiting residents and are creating two significant problems:
Immediate Safety Hazard: The cubes are an attractive nuisance and severe fall risk to children. Preschoolers have been observed climbing and jumping on the units. This confirms the greater community need is a safe play area, not this storage solution.
Unauthorized Misuse: The units are already being used as personal storage by non-residents (unhoused), leading to increased and unwelcome traffic into the residential courtyard.
The project failed to consult residents on community needs. I request immediate action to address the safety hazard and restrict unauthorized access to these units.

Since the crosswalks have been placed, with the school sign looking very similar from behind when heading South, it gives the impression there is a stop sign. I have been here for a year and watched 3 car accidents. The company, who is my landlord, has been there for 35+ years and said since the crosswalks, there have been 3 accidents and several close calls. I am a social worker, who works with kids. I don’t know why there is one 4 way at the sign, but not at the other end, on 8th street, that is within school/church grounds. Please bring attention to this urgently, I have a feeling something bad will happen to a child if something isn’t done here and will be saving this documentation for myself, so if something does happen, I am not liable and this is all screenshot, so you are aware and this could be held liable in court proceedings if nothing is done.
