Food Truck Issues
612 S Eastside DR
- Case Date:
- 4/27/2025
This is not a FOOD TRUCK but a FARM TRUCK question. Why is a vehicle with an expired farm truck (2016) license plate allowed to be parked in this location, where there is no farm to be seen in miles? It never moves, has just been sitting there for decades.

#201966 has been closed: 'Parking Officer has spoken to the owner and has made sure the vehicles are moved.'
This was 4/9/2025. The Red Ford Truck and white SUV, parked in front of 613 S Eastside Drive, have not been moved an inch since that date, nor had they weeks before the Parking Officer addressed the issue with the owner.
The Code of Ordinances of the City of Bloomington, Title 15.04.020 (2) defines an Abandoned Vehicle as: A vehicle left on public property continuously without having moved for three days. So the Parking Officer needs to talk to the owner again. He is not moving his vehicles, as the Code of Ordinances requires him to do.

The fiber optic cable pit at 700 S Eastside Drive (right next to the No Parking Any time sign) is missing its (green?) cover, so now there is a big hole in the grass.
I think it was blown off by a recent storm.

2 'abandoned' vehicles: Red Ford truck and white Ford SUV. These vehicles have been there for weeks now, have not moved an inch. Residents at nearby houses are starting to complain that their guests cannot find a parking place because these 2 vehicles are parked there permanently. Especially the Red truck has been there a multiple of 3 days without having moved. City Ordinance 15.04.020 states that this means the vehicles are considered 'abandoned'. The owner at 612 Eastside Drive either needs to park these vehicles somewhere else where they can sit for weeks and months on end, or be made aware that he needs to move them every 3 days, so as not to be in violation of the City Ordinance. The Parking Officer drives by several times a day, so it should not be too hard to see that these vehicles just sit there and sit there.

Hello,
I’m writing concerning a little stretch of S. Rose Ave that could use some new asphalt.
It looks like the road bed was laid down at some point, but never got completely finished. Easiest to see from an overhead view (attached). Vehicles turning south on Rose Ave are always coming off the road at the corner and churning up the gravel and grass on the verge. It’s pretty unsightly.
I don't know when S. Rose is due for a new surface (S. Anita got one a year or two ago), but is there any chance of having that section cleaned up when it does?
Sincerely,
Michael Powell

Red truck seems to be confusing the walking path between 2nd and Maxwell with a personal parking spot.
