No parking sign hit, needs to be reset
I am writing to report the severe noise disruptions from the IU Stadium that continued until nearly 2:00 AM. Even with our doors and windows completely shut and locked, the heavy, thumping bass and stadium drums were loud enough to vibrate homes across a 2-mile radius from the stadium. When residents call to report this, the response from city channels is a dismissive, "Well, you know there's a football game tonight." This classic town versus gown attitude suggests that year-round residents should just accept this disruption as the new normal. While I understand the economic value of football to our local commerce, the blame for this issue lies with the late-night television scheduling and a major shift in stadium audio technology. These high-powered subwoofer systems did not exist when many permanent residents bought their homes, started families, or moved to Bloomington. This is not the standard college town noise of the past; it is a new level of low-frequency disruption deep into the night that penetrates right through our walls. There is a clear double standard here. Local workers, parents, and neighbors who deal with sleep deprivation or stadium-induced migraines do not get a pass from their employers the next morning just because a television network wanted a primetime slot. I want to ask how powerless the city truly is in this situation. Is there still respect for the neighbors who keep Bloomington running year-round but have no affiliation with the university? I urge the city administration to enforce our local noise protections and work with the university to scale back the late-night bass.
Still a large pothole, since Spring, and after multiple reports. A smaller pothole next to it and another pothole closer to the intersection with 1st St.
Neighbors are parking next to their hvac system on the side of the house in a non spot that is on an unimproved surface. It blocks the public alley and hinders us from leaving our driveway.
The cross walk at the b-line extension and Switchyard Park crossing Walnut is wickedly dangerous. Miscommunication between drivers and pedestrians (and cyclists) is too easy, and someone could be easily killed. I’ve almost been hit by cars there on three separate occasions when I had a go light and cars raced through the intersection anyways. In fact, the signs entice cars through a red light signal if they don’t see crossers. I’m happy to report the specific dangers if asked, but I wanted to log the complaint before and not after someone was killed. In all my years, I’ve never seen such poor and dangerous planning in the name of safety. Please convert the crossing to something more conventional so cars know what to do.
Please fix pothole next to new speed bump, maybe the Mayor needs to drive through there!
Less than 12' of lane clearance
It’s clear that Building and Trades park is not a priority as renovations have paused but it would be great if there was more attention paid to it. The playgrounds are routinely flanked by people gambling, smoking, using drugs, and unleashed dogs. MSI Security comes through and does nothing more than scan a QR code. The playgrounds are rarely used by children anymore. Just because Hopewell can’t get its act together doesn’t mean that the park should be left to rot. There are citizens and families in this neighborhood that deserve better instead of waiting for tenants in a. neighborhood that doesn’t exist. How about resurfacing the basketball courts? How about taking notice of the positive ways the park gets used and supporting those, instead of updating a single pavilion that most people are scared to use?
