I'd like to request a crosswalk or something to make it safer/easier for pedestrians & bicyclists to cross Rogers over to the Switchyard Park.

I would love to see a proper crosswalk and sidewalks added at all sides of the Rogers and Rockport intersection. I would also like to request a completed sidewalk added to the east side of Rogers between Rockport and the Switchyard Park entrance. Families from Rockport Hills and the surrounding neighborhoods often walk over to Switchyard Park and I personally have had and witnessed numerous close calls attempting to cross Rogers to enter Switchyard Park on foot. It would be great to have some sort of crosswalk added at the Switchyard entrance to aid those on foot trying to cross Rogers and enter the park. During larger events when the park parking lot fills up, there is overflow parking in the field in front of Catalent. Then a huge flow of people are forced to wait for traffic in order to essentially jaywalk into the park. It seems to me that some infrastructure improvements are needed for this area of Rogers St. to facilitate the main entrance to one of the largest parks in the city. Finally, I think it would be great to have some sort of high retaining wall built around the massive eye-sore electrical transfer station directly across from the park entrance (similar to the one built right next to the Upland Woodshop). 8:04pm, Friday, November 8, 2024: A Marshall Security vehicle came out of Switchyard Park on the west side along Rogers without stopping, turned south on Rogers in front of traffic, and had a single headlight and a single taillight and no turn signals used. This was a small vehicle that has a small truck bed to it they use for patrols. This is not the first time I have seen Marshall Security disregarding traffic laws in that vehicle. Can the City address this? They need to repair the burnt out headlight and taillight as it is illegal to operate a licensed motor vehicle on the streets without those.

Can the speed limit be reduced near the entrance of Switchyard Park on S. Rogers Street? This is an entrance to the city's largest park and there will be a pedestrian crossing built that will also cross S. Rogers Street, to the park entrance. Currently, the speed is 30 mph, which will be too fast for a pedestrian crossing and the current busy park entrance. Per City Ordinance 18-09, the speed is reduced on Winslow Rd around Allendale Dr. to accommodate for the pedestrian crossing that is near a city park. Other examples of reduced speed near park entrances includes (but not limited to): S. Highland Ave near Winslow Sports Complex and E. Morningside Dr. near Park Ridge East Park.
