There is a homeless camp adjacent to the BLine trail at N Adams street that needs cleaning. There is trash everywhere and the firetrucks and police have been called to the area multiple times. The camp is south of the Bline trail and railroad tracks. Thank you.
Hello -- Steve Akers here in the Park Ridge neighborhood. I have some items to bring to your attention regarding the Park Ridge park. Most are pretty obvious in terms of regular park maintenance and other points are from our stewardship observation as park users and close by residents. Please read through these points and be sure they are part of the on-going maintenance as we get closer to Spring, thanks. - Mowing: the contractor you have subbed out the mowing to is mowing whether it needs it or not. This has been the case for the past year. The result is literally no grass. Granted the park is heavily used including a nearby daycare visiting 2-3 times per week. With this what we believe is excessive mowing, the leaves are ground to a power and the grass is till. Granted it's quite shady - but please manage the mowing service and please for a pretty aggressive seeding and fertilizing. The park is now just dirt so users have to clean their shoes after use, etc. - Wood chips - regular maintenance. A good dose of chips are needed after a winter season use. - Powerwashing: the equipment is in decent shape and not too dirty but a good power washing of all equipment would be great before the spring/summer season. - Erosion: this issue is most noticeable in two locations. The hill to the south and the hill area beside the bike/ped path. With improved mowing and seeding, these areas may recover. But they do need some soil and minor leveling. - Canopy: it's still an awesome upgrade but does need power washing/cleaning, or possible replacement. We look forward to the park transitioning from winter to spring. The grill will hopefully be unsecured (the homeless have moved on) and the water fountain will be turned back on. I am happy to meet you or any staff at the site to discuss my items. One additional item: the Park Ambassador program does not include our park. I made an inquiry when the program began and was told the Park Ridge park was not part of the program. Would you reconsider? I know of neighbors who are willing to be named the Park Ambassador. Aggressive homeless people near children's playground. Lets just say some men were exposing themselves. Homeless camp with 4-5 tents. Also they were chopping down trees and burning.
There's a mattress that either fell off a vehicle or from a homeless camp that needs to be removed. It's right off the sidewalk.
Hello, Bloomington has a safety problem with its homeless population. Our daughter is a senior at IU, she lives off campus, near downtown. She calls me as she walks places because she is afraid of the homeless and their behavior. This afternoon I received a call to tell me two homeless men were walking through their neighborhood, under the influence, and checking doors of homes as they went through the area. The City needs to address this issue to insure its residents are safe.
At 900 N Curry Pike, behind our Fire Station there is a homeless camp that is by the railroad tracks. The people living there are causing issues such as drug use, leaving dirty needles laying around, trash all over, and stealing from residence at the park. The Fire Station does not have cameras which they need. They need some kind of security due to these people being right behind them. Someone needs to look into this issue ASAP.
The smell when driving by is so bad it makes me sick, if you are not going to move the homeless at least get porta pottyes so they are not just using the ground. No one wants to smell the foul odor coming from this park.
A homeless man seems to be setting up camp in this park. Aren’t some of my tax dollars going to help house the homeless? I am at this park every day and will not be happy if it turns into another park full of homeless people. No problem if they are just passing through like the rest of us, but I don’t want them living here.
Homeless junkies disrupting children and family time, profane shouting and making a nuisance for anyone trying to use the public restroom…. Lady in red jacket just nasty a rude, tired of bringing my kids here and listening to their shit, I see people literally avoid the bathroom with children. Can’t you remove them? I mean publicly screaming obscene things and just trying to literally camp out on city property where we cannot even have a picnic without hearing it?
I see several issues not being taken care of due to technicalities. (Private property) Mostly related to the homeless population. I want to remind you of your responsibilitie to take care of these problems BEFORE they land on private citizens/retailers property. I also urge the city to stop taking monetary incentives from the state to house/rehabilitate people thoughout the state of Indiana when Bloomington very obviously doesn’t do a good job at helping these people! It is sad to see these people not getting the help they need and living on the streets.
