Water runs off going north on Maple Street, goes down driveway and into the garage. A poriton of 16th Street, which is at this point is unimproved, runs behind the property of 212 N. Maple. Dunn, Ferguson, and Schmalz own both properties and do not mind if the water is redirected onto their property behind N. Maple. J. Freeman stated that this address was looked into a couple of years ago and it was decided that an asphalt berm could be installed across the drive at 212 N. Maple.
Ms. Goldstein says the alley was paved on the west side of her house approximately 3-4 years ago and every since she has had water runoff which is eroding her foundation.
GOLDSTEIN STATES THAT CITY PAVED THE N-S ALLEY TO THE WEST OF HER HOME IN 1991 OR 1992. APPARENTLY THIS HAS ALLOWED THE WATER TO RUN OFF ONTO HER PROPERTY IN HER CRAWLSPACE. SHE DID NOT REALIZE THAT THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON UNTIL SHE RECENTLY HAD TO GO UNDERNEATH THE HOUSE. THE WATER HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS. WHAT CAN THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT DO?
LOW WATER PRESSURE.
DIRTY WATER
Water tastes bad.
Water runing out of a pipe in a stone wall along 6th St and into the alley. Ms. Hawkins is worried that the water will freeze this winter and be dangerous. The outlet discharges are not rainfall based according to Ms. Hawkins.
HAS NO WATER
White 2-story house in the 700 block of W. 7th St. is boarded up, but someone has partially removed a board from the window at the rear of the property. Neighbors have been seeing people in the upstairs at night. The stairway area at the rear of the house, which leads from the basement to the outside is full of water, which is several feet deep. The basement must be full of water. Ms. Stanfield is concerned that a child could drown.
