Drainage or Runoff

3020 S Stratford DR

Case Date:
8/28/2023

Follow-up on Report #185258 – Assistance needed, please forward to Ms. Elizabeth Carter. Dear Ms. Carter, Thank you for your prompt response to case #185258. We seek your continued guidance regarding the issue outlined in the initial message. The eroded drainage-way section lies outside our rental property's limits. After discussions with all relevant property owners (1912 E Wexley Rd, 1920 E Wexley Rd and 3020 Stratford Dr), we've concluded that this affected section of the drainage-way, causing flooding, might not be on our properties. This is reinforced by utility bollards adjacent to the eroded zone, demarcated by an extra fence. Suspicions arise from recently installed storm drain pipes on E Wexley, which appear to now funnel excessive water into this drainage-way, exacerbating erosion on both sides and ultimately flooding our properties. We kindly request the City of Bloomington's experts to determine ownership of the eroded section accurately and provide expert advice, ideally from an engineer, on addressing the heightened drainage flow, which is beyond our control. My apologies for the earlier property manager's email address error. The correct contact details are as follows: Ms. Janet Jin (812-325-9093, cjcornerstone.mgt@gmail.com). Your assistance in this pressing matter is greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Gergo Szanda

Just wondering where all the water in front of twin lakes rec center is coming from. It’s been wet in front for at least 2 months, consistently every day, and we have had little rain. I drive through this every day and just wondered what was causing this?

Drainage or Runoff

1490 E Southdowns Dr, Bloomington, IN 47401, USA

Case Date:
12/10/2023

On the street, across from the house at 1490 E. Southdowns and close to the intersecting street of Eagelson, there is a visible and continuous stream of water that appears to be originating beneath the blacktop surface of the street. I first noticed it on a walk at about 4:30 pm today(12-10-23). When I returned home after 20 minutes, the water stream was still at the same level/amount as I initially observed. The water is draining directly into a storm sewer. I’m wondering if there is a water main break?

Drainage or Runoff

213 E Cottage Grove AVE

Case Date:
1/26/2024

There is water constantly flowing out of the ground on the alley east of 213 E. Cottage Grove about 40 feet north of the street. The water is bubbling up and flowing south to the street then flowing east to Lincoln. When it was cold recently a glacier formed there that was dangerous to walk or drive on. It i now getting swampy there - still dangerous but in a different way. Both City Utilities and property owner were notified, but it is not clear if anyone has determined where the water is coming from. Good to check the meters in the area, e.g., 701 N. Lincoln, 700 N. Washington, 706 N. Washington for any unexpectedly high usage.

Drainage or Runoff

Hello, I live at 404 E 1st Street and walk to work at the university. Since it has been raining steadily for days, the leaves have moved into the street gutters and are blocking/clogging the gutters and grated drains all throughout this neighborhood. With the new 2023 leaf recycling law, most of the neighborhood did not rake and remove the leaves (my neighbor at 402 has the front yard filled with leaves, a rental unit) and the recent windy weather has blown the leaves everywhere and now the rain has moved them into the areas that I mentioned. This problem is causing excessive water to gather on my property. Please send out crews this week to clean up the leaf problem before there is a major flood in this neighborhood because the forecast is for another 10 days of rain. Thank you, ELIDA C.
