Unsafe Buildings

Home is on double lot, was in tough shape inside and out; took two years to sell due to condition (initial asking 450,000 sold at 170,600) but finally sold a few months ago. Seller moved out; Neighbors have no info on who bought it but assume investors who will tear down to build 2 new homes. We are writing on behalf of all surrounding neighbors. City did arrange for lawn to finally be mowed (thank you!) but there are other more serious issues: 1. A backyard in ground pool no longer has required fencing in yard and pool cover has come off, water is green/moldy. No fencing hazard for wandering children playing, animals but we are concerned about mosquitoes, etc. 2. All sorts of large pieces of siding are flapping all day long in the wind. In storms the sound can be heard houses away and we all are waiting for the day they rip off and come flying down! 3. A fox family has nested in home - literally underneath 1010 from several entries all around (may be inside?) There are five in total (mom with 4 kits - all now full size) They play around pool area and romp in yard which is lovely to watch but now when it means they are leaving rabbit, bird, animal carcasses all over this property and in our yards. Wildlife told us that any neighbor can pay for trapping them as they won't move them. Seriously - all of us?! Fox family are now going after neighborhood cats, and having growling matches with dogs being walked, especially in the evening. Again, they are absolutely beautiful to watch but not the right habitat. Our daily lives are affected by their habitat next door. No owner name to contact for any of us to ask them to clean up carcasses which also now cause more insect issues - ticks, fleas, mosquito, flies in addition to moldy pool water. Some of us have started piling carcasses up in one place on property. The irony here is that the original owner was Bruce Jennings ... who worked in HAND Dept. for many years before passing away. :-( Thanks for anything you can do. Suggestion to add: New owners would be smart to reach out to all on the street to introduce themselves and help us learn more about their plans. We have lived here forty years; this block is a tight knit, close group of caring neighbors who are reasonable and look forward to new plans for 1010! Thank you. (we have a lot of photos if that is helpful but the narrative seems to sum it up)

there is a hole in S. Morton Street, formerly heat and round, about a foot deep. Others like it along the street have covers with the word"water." This one has no cover, is crumbling and the street around it is breaking up into the hole. I live at 748; this is in street just north of my house.

The water meter located at 1502 S. Olive St. has a shutoff valve that is to tight to shut off. The meter is located in the front yard and has been covered over by dirt from work that was previously done by the installation of Fiber Optic. If someone can please take a look at the meter and loosen the valve so we can shut off the water if needed. We had to do work on the bathroom and needed to shut off the water and couldn't.

705 S Clifton AVE
- Case Date:
- 5/21/2025
S Clifton Ave (between 1st and 2nd) is in need of a street sweep to clear tree debris that has been accumulating. Because the street lacks a storm drain, all the debris flows into and stops up the swale that serves as the place for storm water to go. After each rain, several buckets of debris (pine needles, leaves, crumbling road surface) have to be removed by us.

665 Solitude Ct
- Case Date:

Near 659 S Solitude Ct the curb has a small circular hole cut that appears to be designed for water drainage. However it's 20 years old, does not have a screen over the hole and is clogged with dirt. So each time it rains a small pond forms then when the pond slowly drains it leaves a large mud flat on the street. Is this something you can snake out?

Olive Street needs a curb from the top of the hill going down to Hillside Dr. The street had a curb at one time, but has been broken down by snow removal and wear and tear over the years. This is causing flooding when it rains to go down into 1504 S. Olive that is having water run down along the side of the house into the foundation. Also, the water from the rains is running down the street into the residence at 1144 E. Hillside. There is a curb on Olive next to the residence at 1144 E. Hillside that needs to extend up to the top of Olive Street. If someone could please contact me and let me know if this is possible to have done.
Thank you,
Monica Stafford

haven't seen any humans around this property for several days. At least one dog on property (there were two, but I have only seen one recently). Can access inside and outside, I believe, but I don't know if there is food or water. Dog's condition has deteriorated in recent couple weeks-dull coat in need of attention, ears and eyes not as alert as usual. Welfare check needed.
Back yard is also extremely overgrown, untagged junk RV sitting in front driveway. Several problems are apparent. Property care has declined steadily over last 6 months.
Thank you for checking on the dog and property.
