Mr. Sinn owns the property at 409 S. Swain Avenue. On the east end of the lot which involves three lots is standing water. This is an ongoing problem and Mr. Sinn would like an update regarding this issue. Please give him a call. He stated that he has been trying to contact Mr. Heald but has been unable to do so. He requested a citizen action order to be issued.
111? E. Kirkwood: Some sort of restaurant runoff (floor cleaning water?) is dumped from behind Opi Taylor's/Malibu. This goes on year round, but creates a sheet of ice in the winter (as it is today). The water runs/ices in front of an empty lot, so no one deals with the sidewalk. It's approx. 111? E. Kirkwood, just past the alley behind Book Corner, just at the start of the parking lot next to CVS. I originally reported this in 2017, I guess before it was cold. ureport#161324 and I was told it was runoff from an AC unit, which I think we can be sure is not the case in today's weather. I'm a daily walker from the near westside to campus. This is an ongoing problem. I really would like someone to just take some responsibility for either the initial liquid or the ice that results. Bethel Lane construction. For weeks this community has continually been taken hostage by a private company attempting to “fix” water lines. This company continuously blocks traffic at unnecessary times. It seems to always when school is letting out that they decide to keep traffic stopped, even though they, and the City ya ensured the county they would not hinder this traffic and work with the schools for ease of traffic flow. I find it extremely frustrating that the City of Bloomington would care so little about about it’s residents and families. This heavy traffic and blocked traffic pattern has cause myself and many others late from picking up a child at school or getting home to get a second child attending a different school. I hope that some one from this office or one from above can look at these many projects around Bloomington and actually manage them in accordance to the community and just not profit margins and revenues.
Hi--we love the work the city road crews do to plow snow and sand for safe travel. We do have one request for our cul-de-sac, though (Skylark Court, east off of Highland Avenue). We'd appreciate it if the plow drivers could return and plow the large pile of snow covering the lone storm water drain off to the side, so as to uncover the drain. Also, in the future, can they please avoid piling snow that storm water drain. It is the drain for the entire cul-de-sac. In the photo, this location is shown approximately by the red arrow. When snow is piled over this drain, as snow melts from anywhere uphill, or if it rains, the snow pile caps off the drain and the bottom of the cul-de-sac floods. The storm water drain is at the bottom of the cul-de-sac, which is all one slope, so A LOT of water runs to that one drain. One concern we have with the flooding is that several utility hook-ups (electricity, telephone, and cable) are just a foot or two away from the drain. Things have been done this way for years, and we have always taken it upon ourselves to shovel the drain clear, but this year we realized it would be a great idea to ask if the plow drivers could do this instead. This is my second year reporting this issue. My family purchased this home on a cul-de-sac 4 years ago. Last year we removed our mailbox and installed a retaining wall because of already existing poor driaining issues in our area and the city keeps piling snow on top of our property and now the wall. I called Sunday evening and the woman I spoke with said, "cul-de-sacs" were tricky and the guys were out there long hours and were working in bad conditions while being exhausted. But she would be sure to give Joe my address and he would look into my complaints." I called Sunday because the had packed up a huge amount once again on our wall and blocked off half of my driveway. I was then told if we could get in and out of our driveway this should not be an issue or an emergency. Understandable but if the job was successfully completed then first time you would not have to come back. I woke up Monday not surprised to see even more snow had been packed up to our ever growing pile. So my issues are where is all this water going? There is no drainage in this area and all this snow will cause hazardous conditions with melting and freezing and having nowhere to go. Why are you bringing all of the snow into our cul-de-sac? Why are you continuously putting snow on a stone wall where someone could get injured after I have now reported it three times? There are a ton of kids in our neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods and kids like to jump in big piles of snow. I will not be held liable because the city of Bloomington will not listen to or work with its residents. Finally when you contact the city of Bloomington instead of working with you why do they always seem to retaliate against you and make the situation worse? This is what happened last year when the plow driver asked me how I suggested he plow with my "plow experience." I have many other picture but this shows the pile today and how large it is and how spread out the city left. If it snows anymore my neighbors might not be able to back out of their driveway. Is this acceptable??
Housing pipes burst and water has frozen over onto the street.
I’ve been using the trails mainly Clear Creek for several years. I’m a bike rider plus walking. The Clear Creek trail seems to be ignored a lot in the last year or so. In the past couple of weeks we have had strong winds, some trees have blown down. The trees were removed in a timely fashion but the small limbs and debris from t/he clean up was left untouched. One area north of That Road and just north of the water fountain gravel and dirt continues to wash out onto the trail but nothing is ever done to resolve the problem. Walking is not as bad as biking but biking can be a real hassle. The trail gets so bad sometimes that I go to Karst Farm even though it’s not as convenient. It seems a lot is being spent to develop the area south of Grimes and Clear Creek gets ignored. I see maintenance workers driving up and down the trail and they even sit and talk a lot but no one ever gets out of the vehicle to improve the trail when only a few minutes could make a big difference. This house is outside of city limits. Hello, I would like to know I contact about neighbors letting their trash build up. The neighbors are in section 8 housing, but there is no reason to not keep up with burning their trash. This is causing a health hazard to the rest of us. One of my other neighbors just told me he has already talked with them and they don't seem to care. He even stated that he called the police, but the police, said they can't do anything about it because outside of city limits they are allowed to burn trash. But the problem is they are not burning it, "IT IS BEING PILED UP BY THEIR HOUSE" (yellow house on McCormick Lane), this is causing a rodent issues and problems for the rest of us. The same neighbor told me he woke up this morning with two dead mice floating in his dish water...very nasty he said. If you are the right people I should be contacting, please point in the direction of those I should contact. This problem needs to be address, before the rest of us are over-run with rodents and other unwanted critters. I would like to remain anonymous, but if not so be it! Thank you.
Can I say that we are thrilled with the new way trash is being picked up now? No. Furnace filter still in the trash can, other trash sitting next to the trash can, collecting rain water. Not a good job this morning. 700 block of Eastside Drive.
Hi, I was wondering if the trash vehicle could stop just tipping over the trash can when they empty the trash bins in SoMax area. This is the second week that the trashcan was on its side. It damages the trash can over time and this morning there was a lot of water inside of the can. Thank you.
