Case Date:

Temporary lane markings were left after construction of 7th street bike lane, but they appear to be incomprehensible to majority of traffic and are also peeling off of pavement. Westbound cars regularly drive in the left-side, oncoming lane, or directly in middle of both lanes. Either method is a hazard to eastbound traffic as well as westbound traffic turning left onto Dunn as cars in left lane will try to go straight past turning traffic. Temporary directional arrows were installed but seem to have made no improvement. Disaster waiting to happen.

This intersection is very difficult to cross and to access from North Stonelake Drive. People crossing from both sides cause complications with accessing the highway. There have been a lot of reported accidents and near accidents where people not slowing down have been factors.

Compact ice and snow builds up on the ped/bike underpass. It's extremely treacherous and NO ONE seems to even care enough to lay down some salt. The multi-use path up east 7th street along Park Doral apartments also sees little to no cleaning, but is supposed to be part of a vital pedestrian and bicycle artery. It might be cold, but we're still trying to use this without killing ourselves.

The corner of Winslow Drive and Allendale Drive has many reflective "stick" posts that are bolted to the street that are damaged or missing. These are in the eastbound lane of Winslow when turning south onto Allendale. Can these be repaired or replaced? Alternatively, since a dedicated right-turn lane exists at this intersection for turning south onto Allendale, can these posts be removed so the right-turn lane can be used again? Why was it determined that the right-turn lane can’t be used any longer? If the right-turn lane cannot be used, can that pavement be removed and the land converted to grass or a landscape bed?

1002 E Wylie St, Bloomington, IN 47401, États-Unis

Case Date:

Traffic on East Wylie St very fast, potential hazards, while a lot of kids are living (and playing) in this street. Need for better signalization, lower speed limit, speed cushions or bump-outs to reduce motor vehicle speeds (inspired by the East Allen Street Greenway project?)

There is a big growth of bushes/trees/grasses something of that sort in the creek between Sheridan and Southdowns right at the intersection with Woodlawn. When you are at the stop sign on Sheridan, it is tough to see pedestrians, children, and cyclists who are heading to the park. Also, it is tough to see traffic coming from the south on Woodlawn because of the foliage. It certainly needs cut back.

Drivers are constantly running the stop signs at Sheridan/Southdowns and Woodlawn intersection. I see it personally every single day. This is also a pedestrian crossing area and someone is bound to get hit someday.

Cars routinely stop or stand in the bike lane on Third Street anywhere between Jordan and Indiana Avenues. This forces bikes into the "car" travel lanes and makes a dangerous situation for everyone--all at the cost of inconsiderate, and frankly lazy, motorists who are waiting to pick up friends from class. Bloomington and IU Parking Enforcement is unable to do anything about this epidemic since these vehicles are not actually "parked," but instead standing or stopped. IUPD and BPD don't do anything about it because I'm sure there are more important things going on out there that deserve their attention. The presence of some physical barriers or police enforcement would be effectively in keeping cars out of the bike lanes. Vince Carristo emailed me about a year ago stating that the City was looking into physical barriers, but I haven't seen anything deployed. Thanks for your help. Without doing something about cars standing in the bike lanes, Third Street isn't really a viable bicycle route--at least during the day on weekdays.
