It seems like people are dumping trash along the B-Line Trail. I feel that a lack of trash cans may be to blame. Could more trash cans be added along the trail to help prevent this problem?
1) There is a large amount of debris from lawn clippings, downed branches, and other general sticks and brush overgrowth collecting along the west side of the alley between 1424 S Walnut and 1423 S Monon Drive. The debris and overgrown brush along the west side has become so bad it is destroying and collapsing the fence along my back yard (1423 South Monon Drive) and also has become a nesting area for animals. 2) There is also a lot of loose large gravel chunks in the road and on the sidewalks along the 100-172 West Hillside Drive block, left over from winter ploughing that is dangerous to vehicle tires and threatening to clog the storm drain at the corner of South Monon and West Hillside.
This yard is all bamboo. The bamboo has grown out considerably into the street. and now some the stalks are completely parallel to the road and hang down considerably. Trucks would brush through it whenever. But cars just miss it, unless it rains when it actually is a bit dangerous hitting your car. The sidewalk in front of the house is impassable, too, with a lot of weed growth. Quite the neighborhood eyesore.
Snowy and icy, forcing people into the street at a dangerous place. Also, you might look into who is responsible for the sidewalk on the south side of Azalea there, since it is never cleared.
I own the property located at 1005 N. Jackson St, 47404. Shortly after purchasing the property the house next door burned down. We felt very fortunate that our house was not damaged. The house was demolished, however, shortly after demolishing the house someone has set up a tent on the lot and multiple people have been seen using the tent. There is trash surrounding the tent. Though we have not seen a fire there is what appears to be a makeshift fire pit. We use this property as a short term rental and it has the proper permits. I am personally concerned about the safety of my wife who spends some of her days working on improvements within the property. Obviously concerned about the impact on our ability to rent the home with the above described situation. I'm not sure what can be done but after reviewing the code it does not seem like this fits the intended use of the property. I am also empathetic to the rise of homelessness in our community, but this is a residential neighborhood and for the safety of all community members something should be done. We dodged a serious issue when the house burnt down and worry we may not be so lucky if something happens again. Thanks for your attention to this matter, please reach out with any questions. Overgrown bamboo at 1002 W 6 St and Elm bending into sidewalks and street obstructing traffic. Bird droppings covering the sidewalk. The invasive plant has encroached on neighboring property where we live at 1004, so we are having to engage removal services and eventually install impermeable barriers at our expense. The back yard of 1002 is overgrown also, feral cats, possum and a skunk have been sited or smelled in a fallen shed which has not been cleared out. The Elm Street side of 1002 is full of debris and overgrowth and there is an unattended stagnant water feature where we hear frogs in the summer (which do attract copperhead snakes). Someone does seem to be inhabiting the house, though we know that the owner of the house does not reside in Indiana presently.
Golden bamboo was noticed today and is in the photo in elevate on this corner of Elm and W 6th St
Lawn has not been maintained this year and is quite high.
