5th Street between Jefferson and Union streets is beyond the repair of simply fixing pot holes. Some of the damage on the street is due to property owners fixing their sewer lines and then not repaving the street. The location is on 5th street south of the house.
I own the property located at 1005 N. Jackson St, 47404. Shortly after purchasing the property the house next door burned down. We felt very fortunate that our house was not damaged. The house was demolished, however, shortly after demolishing the house someone has set up a tent on the lot and multiple people have been seen using the tent. There is trash surrounding the tent. Though we have not seen a fire there is what appears to be a makeshift fire pit. We use this property as a short term rental and it has the proper permits. I am personally concerned about the safety of my wife who spends some of her days working on improvements within the property. Obviously concerned about the impact on our ability to rent the home with the above described situation. I'm not sure what can be done but after reviewing the code it does not seem like this fits the intended use of the property. I am also empathetic to the rise of homelessness in our community, but this is a residential neighborhood and for the safety of all community members something should be done. We dodged a serious issue when the house burnt down and worry we may not be so lucky if something happens again. Thanks for your attention to this matter, please reach out with any questions. I own this property and I noticed that one of the wheels on my trash container is broken and I need it replaced!
Overgrown bamboo at 1002 W 6 St and Elm bending into sidewalks and street obstructing traffic. Bird droppings covering the sidewalk. The invasive plant has encroached on neighboring property where we live at 1004, so we are having to engage removal services and eventually install impermeable barriers at our expense. The back yard of 1002 is overgrown also, feral cats, possum and a skunk have been sited or smelled in a fallen shed which has not been cleared out. The Elm Street side of 1002 is full of debris and overgrowth and there is an unattended stagnant water feature where we hear frogs in the summer (which do attract copperhead snakes). Someone does seem to be inhabiting the house, though we know that the owner of the house does not reside in Indiana presently.
Golden bamboo was noticed today and is in the photo in elevate on this corner of Elm and W 6th St
1011 w.7thSt. The folks in this rental have consistently never shoveled their sidewalk over the last 10+ years. The landlord should be held accountable.
Can the city blow out/vacuum the leaves/litter in the gutters/curbs/sidewalks on Kirkwood Avenue just east of Walnut Street? This is one of the “signature” streets of Bloomington, and it looks as if this maintenance hasn’t been performed in some time. The present condition fails to give the proper impression of the city of which Bloomington touts itself, especially at this time of year when we have many first-time visitors to the city. Thank you.
Excessive tree and bush growth in the back yard has expanded to the street. Cars eastbound must cross over in to the other lane.
There is a city-maintained connecting road between Woodburn Ave and College Ave just to the right of 1020 N Woodburn. This connector is paved by the city and provides access to the Sunflower II Apartments and to the parking areas for 1020 North Woodburn and for the address just south of 1020. The paving of the parking for Sunflower II is the responsiblity of Crown Management and there is a clear line separating their parking lot from the connector street. The potholes I am reporting are on the connector portion only. This connector is 1 block long with intersections at Woodburn and College. The connector at this point just needs a pothole repair especially the eastern 1/2 of the connector.
Our neighbors have had a trailer of junk/trash in the front yard for weeks and it's attracting rats in our neighborhood.
