Love all the improvements in the park! Great job. Would be nice to eliminate the spotlights shining on the red art structure in the park. The lights are on very early in the morning and in my opinion detract from early morning “vibe” in the park. Why do you need art illuminated in the park at 6:00? Who is looking at the art during that hour? Does it need to be illuminated at all? Again love the parks and all the team does to make our parks a shining spot of Btown!

There has been a guy building a permanent shelter along the B Link. I hear him hammering away at night. He has been destroying the trees and littering all over. This is becoming a concern for those of us in the neighborhood who want to walk our dogs down the trail. I’m also concerned if he is building fires back there since my neighbors houses line up against the trees there.

Yesterday I visited the playground at Winslow Woods Park with my son. The playground space is in dire need of repair. The rubber flooring is patchy, worn, and disintegrating, creating trip hazards. The climbing jungle gym is rusty, with peeling paint and worn plastic. It does not seem structurally unstable, but could use at least some sanding and repainting to make it safer for young children. My experiences at other city parks and playgrounds have all been wonderful, so this seems out of character. I'd be interested to know if there is a barrier to repair/replacement of equipment at this park, if it is slated for removal, or if there is anything I can do as a resident to help advocate for its upkeep. We love to visit our parks and appreciate all the good work the Parks Department does for our community!

While weed wrangling today (Asian Bittersweet/Japanese Stiltgrass/Multi-Flora Rose), we found this Beech Tree down on one of the paths in Winslow Woods. It is on the left fork of the path closest to the community garden. We removed enough of the limbs and brush from the fallen tree for visitors to use the path. We do not know city protocol for mitigation/removal of fallen trees in greenspaces, so we left the balance of the removal for the city. Thank you.

The playground structures at this park are in really poor condition. The rubber surfacing is falling apart, and the equipment is quite degraded. It needs to be replaced. When is this playground scheduled for maintenance/ replacement?

I was told that the playground is slated for replacement in spring 2021, which is great! I would like to suggest that the city consider adding a "Natural Playground" in the wooded area behind the shelter. Natural playgrounds are so amazing for kids, and an attraction for the community. I am so glad to see that you are finally going to fix Push Place. The picture of the proposed new playground at Push Place looks horrible: one huge slide. Some families have multiple kids with varying degrees of comfort with slides. You need to have some short slides and some medium slides. People shouldn't have to continue crossing Hillside to get to Bryan Park so that their little kids can go down a reasonable sized slide. Even little Southeast Park has 4 slides of varying degrees of difficulty. Will there be hearings on this proposal? Will there be an opportunity to change this design to something that will work for toddlers, pre-schoolers and elementary school aged kids?

When is the destruction of the Push Place playground scheduled? Bloomington Developmental Learning Center (BDLC) reserved the shelter for their graduation ceremonies for May 22 with the intent that children would be available to use the playground. That playground was the first playground in the city to be designed to be inclusive to accommodate people with disabilities as well as able bodied children. You have not only lost that but this playground design doesn't even provide a developmentally appropriate progression of increasingly difficult slides so that children could progress to a large slide such as the only one that is included in this design. I am frankly astounded that any reputable playground design firm would propose this design. In incident 175703, you claim that you got feedback from parents. What parents? According to the Parks and Rec Master Plan, the west half of Arden Place is serviced by this park. Did you contact any parents in this neighborhood? So far, I haven't found any that heard of this. You didn't seek input from BDLC, which in the past has taken their children to Push Place on field trips. I follow Parks and Rec on Facebook and I haven't seen anything about any public hearings on this. Do not close this issue as resolved. It most certainly is NOT.
