The intersection of Pete Ellis Dr./Discovery Parkway and 10th Street is used by residents of numerous apartment complexes, bus riders, and community members accessing the post office and the greenway that goes along 10th St. The intersection is necessary for access to Indiana University from Woodbridge and Fountain Park Apartments, which hosts many graduate students. However, there is no crosswalk, pedestrian lights, or sidewalk platforms to allow for safe crossing along this very busy intersection. Additionally, the traffic lights are not able to be seen from the four corners of the intersection, forcing pedestrians to make an educated guess on when to cross. In short, the intersection is dangerous and near impossible to cross. Would it be at all possible in the future to include a) a crosswalk b) a pedestrian crosswalk light c) sidewalk cutout/curb ramps on the two corners in which there is not one currently? There are regularly cars stopped/parked in the bike lane on Washington between 4th and 3rd st's. Also further south between 3rd and 2nd st's. There is no signage saying cars can't park there, and there is certainly no enforcement of this law. I have hit cars, been hit by cars, been cussed at, yelled at and threatened by motorists parked in the bike lane here while I'm just trying to go home from work via bicycle. As a bicycle commuter who uses this bike lane 6 days/week, I would like to see some action taken to stop cars from parking/stopping/driving in the bike lane(s), especially here. I have a dozen or so photos with date and time of cars parked in the bike lane here that I can share if you'd like. Thank you

This street is part of the 7 line and yet doesn’t have any traffic demarcation. Needs lane/yellow lines and white bike symbols. This was needed 4 years ago. They are completely gone now leading people to believe it is a one way street. This street (all of 7th, on campus) is part of the city’s green initiative and alternative transportation effort. thanks!

The lack of 4 way stops on 7th near Dunn is a severe hazard, resulting in several accidents. This is an extreme hazard for cyclists. Can someone from the city pedestrian and bicycle commission contact me about it. I would like to add it to the agenda at the next meeting in November.

The 7th street bike lane is terrible. The curb greatly reduces bikes ability to avoid any danger in the bike lane. If a car turns into the bike lane, the biker can't avoid it due to the curb. I much prefer the old setup with bike lanes on each side of the street. I can't believe you wasted so much time and money to make a bike lane that's so much worse than before.

I am a parent of a student living at Union Street Center Apartments. I have been observing this area for some time and feel there is a safety risk for pedestrians crossing from a parking lot to the Apartments. I have addressed this with the University and they said this had been passed on to Bloomington official and I never heard back from the city. They said its not their property and the City of Bloomington would need to address. I have tried emailing another official and again have not heard back. The issue is N. Union Street needs 2 Crosswalks at each end of the parking lot, with Yellow Flashing Warning Signs in each direction. In addition, the lighting is poor in that area, again increasing the risk at night. The Risk Analysis would show there is a high risk of Severity, Frequency, and Probability for an accident in this area. Cars traveling from 10th street to 3rd as a cut through are traveling down hill and pick momentum or speed. I would be happy to discuss this issue with anyone who will listen, so we all fully understand the issue.

Overgrown trees on the polly grimshaw trail before you turn to go under the bbypass make it difficult to make the turn without heading into traffic going in the opposite direction.

The City needs to find a better way to keep the 7th Street bike path clear for cyclists. On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, around 9:25pm I was biking with a group of cyclists. We were headed east on 7th Street in the bike lane. As we crossed College and headed towards Walnut, every single cyclist had to exit the bike lane and ride in the lanes of traffic because a pickup truck was going in reverse down the bike lane. The truck had its white backup lights on and was moving from Walnut back towards College, fully in the bicycle lane blocking both lanes of bicycle travel. This is classic Bloomington infrastructure. Poorly designed, used incorrectly, and the people it is meant to benefit are no better off.
