About Mavourneen Farm

Mavourneen. Gaelic. My darling.

Mavourneen Farm is a very small vegetable, herb, fruit, and cut flower operation based on family land in rural Monroe County, just off south Rockport Road. Owners Rachel Beyer and Jonas Carpenter started the project in 2014 as a way to experiment with fusing their different plant backgrounds-traditional organic production meets permaculture design. Long term, their dream is to make a family living from this farm, but for the moment it is a weekend project, while Rachel works for Purdue Extension Monday-Thursday and Jonas works full time co-managing Bread and Roses Nursery with his good friend, Salem Willard. We are a young farm, run by young farmers who grew up in the Bloomington community. Our production ethics are rooted in a concern for preserving the Earth, appropriately valuing food and farmers, and the creation of greater health and beauty.
