Will the fireworks be downtown again this year?

Downtown Bloomington is always energetic and it’s even more vibrant during holidays. Cook is excited to bring its second annual fireworks show to downtown Bloomington to kick-off Fourth of July celebrations.

Who is sponsoring the fireworks?

Cook is pleased to partner with the City of Bloomington for this event.

What streets will be closed and when?

The following roads will be closed between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3:

  • North Rogers between 8 th and 11 th Streets
  • Maker Way (between Rogers and Madison)
  • Madison St., only between 10 th and 11 th streets
  • 10 th St., only between Rogers and Madison

Additionally, 11 th St. between Rogers and Madison Streets will be closed during the fireworks display (from 9:30 p.m. until 11 p.m.).

Please also note, because we expect this to be a big event, there might be higher than normal traffic congestion near the square and the Trades District.

When will the fireworks show begin?

The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3.

Where will the fireworks be launched?

The fireworks will be launched from the Trades District located between 10 th Street and 11 th Street just east of Rogers Street.

How was this site selected as the fireworks launch site?

Cook and the City of Bloomington wanted to continue the tradition of bringing the community together to enjoy downtown on the holiday. With adequate open space for a safe launch and great sightlines from many adjacent areas, the Trades District is the perfect location.

Where is the best place to watch the fireworks?

An optimal viewing location will be available in the parking lots surrounding the Showers building at Morton and 8 th Street. B97 will livestream a playlist that coordinates with the fireworks display.

What is the perimeter around the launch site?

The City has worked hard on safety for the event. There will be a perimeter around the fireworks launch area. Viewers will not be able to watch the fireworks inside that area. Please see attached map.

What is the plan if it rains?

In the event of bad weather, the celebration will be rescheduled for Saturday, July 6 at 9:45 p.m. We will communicate the change as soon as possible via the Cook Medical Facebook page and the City of Bloomington’s Twitter and Facebook pages. We will also alert local media to changes. If inclement weather is expected, the fireworks may start earlier or later than scheduled.
