"Pick it Up!" is a litter campaign in which the City of Bloomington furnishes FREE special blue trash bags to individuals, organizations, and businesses to pick up litter in their neighborhoods. This is an ongoing program throughout the year.

It's as easy as 1 - 2 - 3!

1. Register by contacting Angela at the HAND Office, at 812-349-3505 or angela.vanrooy@bloomington.in.gov, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Monday through Friday. Your requested number of free bags will be available for pick up at City Hall Reception the same day.

2. Pick up litter on the streets of your neighborhood using your "Pick it Up" bags.

3. For individuals: You may leave full "Pick it Up" bags out on your regular household trash pick up day, on the ground next to your trash cart. Before you do please email angela.vanrooy@bloomington.in.gov with the following information:

  • your name
  • your address
  • # of bags for disposal
  • date you will put them out for pick up

For groups with litter patrols:  You must make arrangements for disposal of the bags in advance by contacting Angela Van Rooy at angela.vanrooy@bloomington.in.gov or 812-349-3505.

THANK YOU for helping to keep Bloomington beautiful!!

This program is not designed for household trash, bulky items, or yard waste. All trash must be enclosed in the bags and be free from rips and tears
