Black History Month Celebration Continues With Crowns Day

Bloomington, IN -- The Community-Wide Black History Month Celebration continues with Crowns Day on Sunday, February 5, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the Monroe County Public Library. Crowns Day is based on a book by Craig Marberry and Michael Cunningham, in which black women discuss the significance of their church hats. All women are invited to participate in Bloomington's Crowns Day, hats are optional.

Gladys Devane and Kevin J. Jones will narrate the history, stories and fashion of Bloomington's women and their crowns. Instrumental music will be provided by Robert Tamborrino and James Mitchell. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
