Black History Month Gala Caps Off Month-Long Celebration

Bloomington, IN -- Tickets are still available for the Black History Month Gala, which will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2006, at Mayfield's Ballroom from 7 - 11 p.m. The Gala culminates the community-wide Black History Month Celebration that kicked off at City Hall on January 31.
The public is invited to this black-tie event, which includes a complimentary glass of wine and hors d'ovres, a silent auction, dinner and dancing with music provided by George Middleton and Musique. The inaugural presentation of the Outstanding Black Male Leader of Tomorrow Award will also take place during the Gala.
Ticket prices for the evening are $26 per person, $45 per couple and $20 with student identification. No tickets will be available at the door. Tickets may be purchased at the City of Bloomington Safe and Civil City Office, Angela's Ebony Hair Salon and Hoosier Barbershop.
Gala sponsors include: Indiana University Office of the Vice President for Institutional Development and Student Affairs/Academic Support, Otis Elevator, City of Bloomington, Ivy Tech Community College and Monroe Bank.
Proceeds from the Black History Month Gala will support the Black History Marker Fund and future programs to educate the community about the contributions of Africans Americans.
