Mayor Announces Be Bloomington Campaign

[image:2151,right]Bloomington, IN -- Mayor Mark Kruzan announced today the launch of a new campaign called "Be Bloomington," designed to preserve and enhance community character.

"We want to generate excitement about Bloomington's uniqueness and to emphasize the connection between community character and economic vitality," Kruzan said. "This program is a formal but fun recognition of the importance of our quality of life and health of our economy."

A unique characteristic of Bloomington will be highlighted each month, complete with related initiatives, activities and special events. Several organizations throughout the community have joined with the City as boosters of the campaign. A Be Bloomington Booster is an organization that partners with the City to implement a new event or enhance an existing one in support of the campaign. A different City department also will be recognized each month for its contributions and services that help enhance and preserve community character.

April kicks off the campaign with the theme of "Be Beautiful Bloomington." Multiple activities will take place during the month including a collaborative cleanup effort in downtown Bloomington. Additional events include Earth Day and Arbor Day activities, and a youth art competition. Downtown Bloomington, Inc. is April's Be Bloomington Booster.

Affiliates with the campaign include major media sponsor B97 radio and media supporter WFHB radio.
