Bloomington, IN -- Mayor Mark Kruzan announced today that he will present City Vision 2006 on Thursday, April 6 at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers. During the speech Kruzan will discuss city government priorities for 2006. The public is encouraged to attend.
"We've got a lot of hard work, important projects and exciting undertakings planned for 2006," Kruzan said. "We need the community to be a big part of each."
In the City Vision 2006 speech, Kruzan will discuss four themes that each major City of Bloomington initiative this year will follow: Community Collaborations, Community Commerce, Community Condition and Community Character.
"The four concepts are intertwined and interdependent," Kruzan said. "Community Collaborations involves partnerships among the City, for-profit and nonprofit entities, and Community Commerce is aimed at improving Bloomington's economic vitality. Community Character is focused on preserving and strengthening the city's unique qualities while Community Condition demonstrates care for our public safety, environment and animals."
All four target areas will involve the local business community.
Kruzan will discuss initiatives to strengthen the arts, to engage the entire community in the drafting of the new zoning ordinance, to combat recidivism, and to design and construct the rails-to-trails project that will extend though the heart of downtown.
