Bloomington, IN -- Mayor Mark Kruzan announced today that the City of Bloomington Engineering Division will hold a public meeting on the planned improvements to the 3rd Street and Atwater Avenue Corridor, Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at 5:30 pm in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 401 N. Morton St., Suite 115.

The purpose of the meeting is to present the Draft Corridor Improvement Study and receive public comment. Comments received will be considered in the production of a Final Version of the study. The study seeks to plan infrastructure improvements to enhance safety and efficiency for all modes of transportation in the corridor. The corridor boundaries are Atwater Avenue on the south, High Street on the east, 3rd Street on the north and Dunn Street on the west.

"The City Council and area residents expressed great interest in addressing this improvement project, so we prioritized it and are excited about unveiling the consultant's report," Kruzan said.

Brock Ridgway of Eagle Ridge Civil Engineering Services, LLC will supply exhibits on the corridor needs, alternatives and recommendations. Council Chambers will open at 5:00 pm for the public to peruse the exhibits. At 5:30 pm, the meeting will start with introductions and a summary of the project to date. Ridgway will make his presentation from 5:45 to 6:30 pm followed by a question and comment period. The regularly scheduled City Council meeting will follow at 7:00 pm.
