Public Invited To Council For Community Accessibility Awards Ceremony

  Bloomington, IN -  The City of Bloomington's Council for Community Accessibility (CCA) annual awards ceremony will be held Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at 6:30 p.m at the Hilton Garden Inn, 245 N. College Avenue, Bloomington. The event is free and open to the public and celebrates the CCA's 17th anniversary.

The ceremony will recognize individuals, businesses and organizations that make the community more accessible for people with disabilities. The following awards will be presented:

  • Kristin Willison Volunteer Service Award
  • Business Service Award
  • Professional and Community Service Award
  • Housing Service Award
  • Self Advocacy Award
  • Mayor's Award

Mayor Mark Kruzan will present the Mayor's Award, sponsored by the Indiana University Credit Union. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with hors d'ouevres and desserts, followed by the keynote address at 7:15 p.m. and presentation of awards at 7:30 p.m.

Christy Steele, President and CEO of the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, will be the keynote speaker. She will speak on past and current Chamber initiatives involving awareness on the part of businesses of issues concerning people with disabilities.
