Bloomington, IN - In an ongoing effort to address public safety as part of his Community Condition initiative, Mayor Mark Kruzan will host a community forum at the Bloomington Housing Authority office, 1007 North Summit, on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at 7:00pm.

Although the forum is designed for residents and businesses in and around Bloomington Housing Authority locations, it is open to all members of the public. The meeting will provide residents with an opportunity for interactive dialogue with the Mayor, City of Bloomington Police and other City departments' staff, as well as representatives from community organizations regarding public safety issues.

"We are eager to hear the public safety challenges and concerns of residents and area businesses and hope to come away with some concrete ideas of how we can work in partnership to ensure a safe and secure community environment," Kruzan said.

Bloomington Housing Authority (BHA) staff, Residents Council members and the City's Safe and Civil City Director Beverly Calender-Anderson have met on a number of occasions to identify the issues of most concern to BHA and surrounding-area residents.

In addition to Kruzan, the following individuals will participate in the dialogue: Sarah Huntington, Middle Way House; a representative from Center for Behavioral Health; Mike Diekoff and Scott Oldham of the City of Bloomington Police Department; Vickie Provine, with the City of Bloomington Housing and Neighborhood Development Department; Beverly Calender-Anderson, City of Bloomington Safe and Civil City Program; and Bloomington Housing Authority staff.
