City Hosts Women of Color in the Workplace Roundtable

Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington announced today that its Women of Color in the Workplace Roundtable, will take place Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Fountain Square Ballroom beginning at 6 p.m. The event, originally scheduled as part of the Black History Month celebration in February, was postponed due to weather.

The event features a panel of African American women who will discuss what it means to be a minority female in corporate America. Panelists will provide insights on communication styles, hair, clothing and workplace challenges.

Participating panelists include: Tiffani Cannon, Project Manager, Otis Elevator Co.; Valerie Haughton, local attorney; Vera Jones, Indiana University Women's Basketball Assistant Coach; Audrey McCluskey, IU Associate Professor of African American and African Diaspora Studies; Wakisha Malone, Coordinator of Academic Advising and Programs, IU Groups Student Support Services; Shaunica Pridgen, City of Bloomington Community and Family Resources Commission Chair; and Debra Vance, Ivy Tech Community College Director of Outreach.

The discussion will be followed by a question and answer period, which will be facilitated by Eric Love, IU Director of Diversity Education.

The roundtable is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The Women of Color in the Workplace Roundtable is sponsored by the City of Bloomington and Angela's Ebony Designs.
