[image:1772,left]Bloomington, IN -- Mayor Mark Kruzan announced today that he will present the State of the City: Public Safety and Community Condition address on Tuesday, June 12 at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers. Kruzan will discuss plans for several significant public safety-related initiatives for which he is seeking Common Council support and budgetary approval. The public is invited to attend.

"This mid-year appropriation ordinance proposal is intended to build upon the success we've already achieved on the public safety front," Kruzan said. "Our community works hard to be a place where residents feel safe and are well protected by our highly professional City [Police|/sections/viewSection.php?section_id=129] and [Fire|/sections/viewSection.php?section_id=125] Departments. We are forever indebted to the personnel who put their liveson the line for us every day of the year, and we owe it to them to provide them with the best possible training and equipment to help make their jobs easier, safer and that much more effective," he said.

Specific topics Kruzan will address include proposals for an indoor firing range, a Live Fire Training Facility, and plans to address other Community Condition topics such as noise pollution and alternative transportation.

"June is Be Safe Bloomington month, part of our [Be Bloomington |/sections/viewSection.php?section_id=215]community character campaign," Kruzan said. "This is a perfect time to examine where we are in terms of safety, where we want to go and how to get there. I look forward to working with the community and City Council over the next several months to implement these important initiatives."
