Mayor Invites Public to Be Safe Bloomington Events

[image:1772,left]Bloomington, IN - As underscored in his [State of the City address |/documents/viewDocument.php?document_id=346]last night, Mayor Mark Kruzan announced today that to continue celebrating June as [Be Safe Bloomington month|/documents/viewDocument.php?document_id=2087], the City of Bloomington will be hosting several local events. A Be Safe Bloomington booth will be held at the Farmers' Market on Saturday, June 16 and tours of the City of Bloomington Fire Department will also be held on June 16, 23 and 30.

"These events are a great opportunity to learn how to safeguard pets, children and other loved ones from danger," Kruzan said. "This information is valuable to everyone in the community and we are trying to present it in an approachable way."

The Farmers' Market booth will be located in the City Hall plaza (401 N. Morton) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include information and handouts from the City on public safety, pet care, safe drinking water and sun safety. In addition, local agencies including the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office, Middle Way House, Monroe County Health Department, Bloomington Hospital's Kid-Safe Coalition and the Olcott Center will make their safety information available at the booth.

Tours of the [City of Bloomington Fire Department |/sections/viewSection.php?section_id=125]are be a fun and interesting way for families to learn about fire safety and the services offered by the City of Bloomington Fire Department. Tours will be held at three different times and locations:

  • June 16 - Station #2 open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Located at 209 S. Fairfield.
  • June 23 - Headquarters open from noon to 6 p.m. Located at 300 E. Fourth.
  • June 30 - Station #3 open from noon to 6 p.m. Located at 900 N. Woodlawn.
