City Issues Volunteer Opportunities Guide

Bloomington, IN -- The City of Bloomington Volunteer Network has just issued its Volunteer Opportunities Guide. The guide is a comprehensive resource for locating and linking to volunteer opportunities and community serving organizations in Bloomington and Monroe County.

Each listing includes a description of the organization’s mission, contact information and specific volunteer needs. Listings also provide a minimum age so youth can easily identify those opportunities that will work for them. There is also an Interest Index in the guide, allowing individuals to find volunteer opportunities that align with their skills and interests.

Individuals are encouraged to pick up a copy of the guide in order to get connected with local volunteer opportunities and to give back to the community. By using the guide to find volunteer opportunities, individuals can help promote, sustain and protect the city as well as enhance the sense of community among Bloomington’s diverse residents.

Copies are available at the City web site, www.bloomington.in.gov/volunteer, and free of charge from the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network office located in the Community and Family Resources Department, City Hall, 401 N. Morton Street, Suite 260. Copies also are available in the Indiana Room of the Monroe County Public Library and at the United Way office, 441 S. College Ave. To request a copy by mail, contact Bet Savich at 349-3472 or volunteer@bloomington.in.gov.
