City Animal Shelter Offers "Back to School" Adoption Special!

Bloomington, IN -- As part of its Adopt Today! campaign, the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter is holding its own “back to school” special and offering dogs and cats at a half-price adoption fee. Regular adoption fees are $75 for animals under age five and $55 for five years and older. Included in the fee is spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and testing for feline leukemia and FIV for cats and heartworm for dogs. The special adoption price will be available from Monday, August 27 through Sunday, September 9, 2007.

Now that summer vacations are over and families are back to their school-time routine, it can be a perfect time to add a new companion to the family. The shelter has lots of playful kittens and adult cats available in all sizes and colors. There are also many wonderful dogs and puppies waiting to find their forever homes. Come to the shelter and let us match you up with the perfect animal for your family.

The shelter uses a process called “Meet Your Match” to learn more about your family and your lifestyle and to match you up with a cat or dog that best suits your needs and expectations. Staff can even help you with your “homework” after you adopt by providing handouts and advice about housetraining, crate training, obedience training and many other topics.

The public can visit adoptable animals at the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter located at 3410 South Walnut. The shelter is open to the public Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays and Fridays from noon until 7 p.m.

Adoptable animals also can be seen on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon at the Farmers’ Market and on Sundays from noon to 3 p.m. at 122 E. Kirkwood Avenue. They can also be viewed on the shelter web site at bloomington.in.gov/animalshelter.
