Bloomington, IN - Mayor Mark Kruzan announced today that Susan Clark will be leaving the position of City Controller, a position she has held since 2004. Clark has accepted a position at an accounting and financial advisory firm in Indianapolis to be closer to family.
"Susan has been instrumental in preserving and improving the fiscal integrity of city government." Kruzan said. "Even she may not fully realize the role she and her staff have played in empowering our administration and the City Council to pursue Bloomington's priorities. Her work and her dedication to the cause are greatly appreciated."
Clark has worked for the City of Bloomington for 10 years. Earlier this year, the City was awarded the Certificate of Achievement by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) under Clark's leadership. In addition, Clark received an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement as the primary person responsible for preparing the award-winning Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year that ended December 31, 2006. She also was designated Certified Public Finance Officer, receiving the highest score in the nation on the Accounting section.
"The last 10 years at the City of Bloomington have been extremely rewarding, both personally and professionally," Clark said. "I will miss the people and the opportunities afforded me, but I am glad to be relocating closer to family so I can see to their needs and lend them a helping hand."
Clark will be leaving the Controller's role effective April 30. She has lived in Bloomington the past 34 years.
