Bloomington, IN - The newly-formed Bloomington Lifelong Learning Coalition (BLLC) announces a logo contest open to all Monroe County residents. The winner will receive a $500 honorarium and may have her or his logo featured as part of the BLLC's presence in the community.

As its mission, the BLLC seeks to support, promote, and facilitate lifelong learning in Bloomington. Membership organizations include the City of Bloomington Mayor's Office, Indiana University, Ivy Tech Community College, City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation, Monroe County Community School Corporation, the Bloomington Area Arts Council, the Monroe County Public Library, Work One, and the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce.

The logo selected must be reflective of the goals of the BLLC, which include sponsoring a Lifelong Learning Week each September, seeking to identify and develop learning opportunities for underserved populations in the community, and promoting the arts in the community.

The winner or winners will be chosen based upon the artistic quality of the design as well as the ways in which the design symbolizes the BLLC. All entrants must include a brief explanation, or Artist's Statement, of how the design of the logo being submitted reflects the BLLC. The contest deadline is June 11, 2008. Entries, which must be electronic, should be mailed or hand-delivered to:
