Bloomington
, IN - Mayor Mark Kruzan announced that the City of Bloomington's Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) Department will recognize neighborhood associations and individuals during the eighth annual Blooming Neighborhood Celebration.

The event takes place at the Farmers' Market on Saturday, June 7, 2008, with neighborhood displays beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the awards ceremony at 10 a.m. The annual awards are part of the ongoing effort by the City to collaborate with neighborhoods on important projects.

"Neighborhoods are the heart of our community," Kruzan said. "The time, effort and creativity that groups and individuals devote to enhancing their neighborhoods help make Bloomington the very special place that it is, and we want to work hand-in-hand with our citizens in bringing these projects to life. This is a fun opportunity to thank them for their accomplishments."

Being honored this year are:

Broadview Neighborhood Association - Winner
Elm Heights Neighborhood Association - Certificate of Recognition
