Bloomington
, IN - The City of Bloomington Twin Lakes Sports Park, located at 2350 W. Bloomfield Road, is one of the most widely used parks in Bloomington. Water drainage problems have for some time hampered activities held there, so a two-phase project undertaken by the City's Parks and Recreation Department will address those challenges.

The initial phase of the project, completed earlier this year, included replacing portions of the asphalt parking lot with drainage tiles, resurfacing other parking areas and installing a diversion system for water coming up under the asphalt to a special "moat" surrounding the ball diamonds.

Phase II, which is scheduled for this summer though is largely contingent upon the weather, will call for the excavation of the areas immediately around the ball fields. Drainage tiles also will be installed in an effort to stop the continual erosion around the outfield fences. Once completed in its entirety, the project will allow for more extensive use of the park and will make maintenance of the park more efficient and effective.
