Bloomington
, IN - The City of Bloomington is hosting "The Artists of Fourth Street," an exhibition of works from nine artists who also serve as members of the organizing committee of the Fourth Street Festival of the Arts and Crafts, July 21 - August 28, 2008 in the City Hall Atrium.

"The Artists of Fourth Street" highlights a variety of work that captures the vibrant spirit of the festival, now in its 32nd year. Pieces range from
the nature-inspired weavings of Martina Celerin, functional ceramics by Walt Schmidt and Kris Busch, photography by Kyle Spears and David Goodrum, and a mosaic using recycled materials by Cappi Phillips. Also on exhibit are paintings by Dawn Adams, a watercolor collage by Bonnie Gordon-Lucas, and the feather craftwork of Karen Cherrington. Works from the late T. Scot Halpin, who was a frequent exhibitor and committee member of the Fourth Street Festival as well as designer of the 2008 festival t-shirt, are also included. "Scot's family and friends are delighted to see his artwork live on, going out into the world as this year's Festival t-shirt," said Robin Halpin Young, who also has a painting included in the exhibit.

An artist reception is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Atrium. Both the exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. The exhibit can be viewed during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The City of Bloomington is committed to providing an opportunity for Bloomington and area artists to exhibit works in the City Hall Atrium. For more information, contact Miah Michaelsen, the Assistant Economic Development Director for the Arts, at michaelm@bloomington.in.gov or (812) 349-3534.
