Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington and the Leo R. Dowling International Center are inviting residents to enjoy culinary demonstrations showcasing the making of traditional Latin foods from Colombia and Venezuela during the Farmers' Market on Saturday, Sept. 27. Participants will have an opportunity to sample each dish and experience a taste of Latin America. Cooking demonstrations will take place in the Showers City Hall Atrium, 401 N. Morton St, between 10 a.m.-noon.
Ritmos Latinos, the Indiana University Latin Dance Club, also will be on hand to provide lessons and performances in the plaza. Both the cooking demonstrations and the dance lessons are part of the City's celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, and events will continue through October 15.
National Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the traditions, ancestry and unique experiences of those who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico, the countries of Central and South America and the Caribbean. It also highlights the many achievements of Hispanic Americans and recognizes their contributions to our community and our country.
