Bloomington, IN -- The City of 's Housing and Neighborhood Development (HAND) and Information Technology Services (ITS) departments will present a workshop aimed at educating residents about new strategies that can enhance their neighborhood communications. This community collaboration will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, .401 N. Morton St.
Leaders from several neighborhood associations will speak about their methods and share personal experiences. Jon Lawrence and Anne Hedin of Bryan Park, Chris Eller from Grandview Hills and Kevin Polk from Green Acres will provide their perspectives on communications in their respective communities.
"As part of our ongoing collaboration with the various neighborhoods in the community, these workshops provide residents with the chance to really see all that is available to them through the City," said Lisa Abbott, Director of HAND. "It will also give them an opportunity to learn more about what communication strategies are working in other neighborhoods."
The City hopes the workshop will facilitate the exchange of useful tactics among the various neighborhood associations and introduce attendees to the many different City resources available to neighborhoods through projects funded with HAND grants.
