Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington announced today its leaf collection schedule for this fall. The leaf collection program will begin Monday, November 3 and run through Friday, December 19, 2008.

Bloomington residents have several options to dispose of yard waste, including:

Option 1: City of Bloomington Sanitation crews will collect yard waste, placed in the free leaf collection bags, each week on a household's scheduled trash day. Leaf collection bags can be obtained at any City of Bloomington Fire Station, the Public Works Department located at City Hall, 401 N. Morton, or the Sanitation Department, 3406 South Walnut Street.

Option 2: Residents may drop off leaves at specified drop off sites. The sites are available for leaves only and the leaves may be bagged or loose. The sites will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the following locations and dates:

  • Old Griffy Plant Site (3501 N. Dunn), November 15
  • Olcott Park, November 22
  • Highland Village Park, December 6
  • Bryan Park Lot (East Lot), December 13
  • Sherwood Oaks Park, December 20

Option 3: Street crews will be driving through neighborhoods on a regular basis Monday through Friday. Although all residents may not have daily service, this program will provide more frequent pickups. Residents who have additional questions can contact the City's Street Department at 349-3448 between the hours of 7:30a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
