Bloomington
, IN - The City of Bloomington will host a public workshop from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at City Hall on Thursday, Nov. 20 to showcase proposed streetscape improvements being considered for the Rogers Street corridor from Hillside Drive to Kirkwood Avenue.

The proposed improvements are the result of a streetscape study conducted by the City's Housing and Neighborhood Development and Planning Departments. have The public workshop is part of the departments' streetscape improvement process, which also includes compiling information, gathering citizen input and holding a two-day public design workshop.

The goal of the study is to ensure that targeted streetscape improvements are appropriately designed to meet the various needs of the adjacent neighborhoods and surrounding community. The public workshop is the next step in this streetscape study and is tailored to build upon the current design concepts through active citizen involvement. As the study nears completion, a final design and implementation strategy will be presented to the community. Citizen participation at this stage in the process is critical to shaping the final design concepts.

"The South Rogers Streetscape project, once designed and implemented, will help the City achieve several important community character goals," said Mayor Mark Kruzan. "It will implement an important element of both the Prospect Hill and McDoel Gardens Neighborhood Plans and will enhance the City's commitment to create streets that serve all modes of transportation, including pedestrians traveling from these neighborhoods into our downtown."

City staff also will hold a "lunch hour primer" prior to the workshop from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. where information, handouts and comment forms will be available for those who cannot attend the evening workshop. In addition, materials used at the workshop will be posted at [http://www.southrogers.schneidercorp.com|http://www.southrogers.schneidercorp.com].
