Bloomington
, IN -- As part of its strategic vision to offer entrepreneurial and educational opportunities to the creative community, the Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) is hosting two workshops for the public in December at City Hall. On Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., BEAD will partner with the Indiana Artisan Project to offer "The Business of Art;" on Wednesday, Dec. 10 from 2 p.m.-3:30 p.m., BEAD will present "Leadership in Tough Times," a webinar workshop produced by Americans for the Arts.

"The Business of Art" is the first in a series of entrepreneurial training sessions for artisans sponsored by the Indiana Artisan Project, a statewide program designed to enhance the state's character by promoting Indiana-made art and food products. Experts in the marketing field will present key information on business planning, marketing, web marketing and web design. The $25 registration fee includes a networking lunch and resource fair. To register, email Jamie Fry with the Indiana Artisan Project at jfry@visitindiana.com or Miah Michaelsen, City of Bloomington Assistant Director of Economic Development for the Arts, at michaelm@bloomington.in.gov.

"Leadership in Tough Times" is a webinar produced by Americans for the Arts, a leading national arts advocacy, educational and networking organization. In this 90-minute webinar, Americans for the Arts President and CEO Robert L. Lynch will moderate a discussion on the questions that savvy arts leaders consider when facing changes in the economy, content controversy, funding crises and more. The session is designed for those in the creative field who want to strengthen their strategic response skills as they prepare to face the inevitable challenges that accompany leadership. "Leadership in Tough Times" will be held in the McCloskey Room at City Hall, and there is no registration fee. Advance registration is requested. To register, email Michaelsen at michaelm@bloomington.in.gov or call 349-3534.
