Bloomington, IN - Mayor Mark Kruzan decided to have the City of Bloomington website display purple Panther Pride as a good luck send off for the Bloomington High School South Boys' Basketball Team.

All this week, the City of Bloomington web site will be sporting a purple and white theme in honor of the Panthers. Links to the Herald-Times Online Sports Page also will be available to allow readers to track South news throughout the week leading up to the game.

South defeated Franklin Central 58-55 last weekend to advance to the State Championship Game at Conseco Fieldhouse on Saturday, Mar. 28, at 8:15 p.m.

The Panthers remained undefeated at 25-0 and will compete for the school's first-ever state title.

"Athletics and competition are great tools through which our community's student-athletes can learn sportsmanship and teamwork, and the commitment that South has demonstrated on its way to the championship game speaks volumes about the character of the young men and their parents and coaches," Kruzan said. "On behalf of the entire City, I congratulate the Panthers on their success this season and wish them the very best on Saturday night as they seek to bring the title back to Bloomington!"
