Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington Fire Department (BFD) invites the public to Be Safe Bloomington during its annual open house, pancake breakfast and cookout in front of the Fire Station at 4th Street and Lincoln during
the 4th Street Festival on Saturday, Sept. 5, and Sunday, Sept. 6, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The event raises funds in support of the philanthropic efforts of the Bloomington Metropolitan Firefighters Local 586, which provides assistance to victims of fire and sponsors local youth programming in the community. The Fire Station will be open for guided tours beginning at 8 a.m. on both days, and firefighters will be selling freshly made pancakes, bacon and orange juice until 11 a.m. Burgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers and chicken will be available for lunch, all cooked to order on the grill outside the station.

Raffles and games will be taking place both days, as well as live music courtesy of the BFD Pipe and Drum Band. Additionally, informational materials about BFD and the Bloomington Public Safety Training Center will be available, and firefighters will be on hand to answer questions.

For more information, please contact BFD Battalion Chief of Training Rob Stumpf at 349-3896.
