BEAD's January Exhibit to feature work from the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club

Bloomington, IN - The City of Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) will showcase artwork by members of the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club in a collaborative exhibit running through January in the City Hall Atrium, 401 N. Morton Street.

The pieces for the show were created by children as part of the Boys and Girls Club ArtCore Program, sponsored by the City of Bloomington's Community Arts Commission. Works will include drawings, paintings, watercolors, mixed media and sculptures.

An opening reception for the exhibit will be Friday, Jan. 8, from 5-7 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. The exhibition, which is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each weekday, will open January 4 and run through January 29.

The mission of the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club is to "enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens." It provides local children with opportunities for growth, recreation and companionship through after school programs, sports programs and camps. General and membership information for the Bloomington Boys and Girls Club is available at www.bgcbloomington.org.

The City of Bloomington is committed to providing opportunities for Bloomington and area artists to exhibit artwork in the City Hall Atrium. For more information on the exhibition program, contact Miah Michaelsen, Assistant Economic Development Director for the Arts, at michaelm@bloomington.in.gov or 349-3534.
