Bloomington, IN - The Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department announced today that the lack of water in parts of [Griffy Lake|278] is forcing the temporary suspension of canoe, rowboat and kayak rentals.

According to Elizabeth Tompkins, Natural Resources Coordinator with the Parks and Recreation Department, access from the boathouse to most of the lake is cut off due to low water levels. Regular rental hours (daily during the month of September, and weekends in October) will resume when adequate rainfall restores the lake to normal water levels.

Hiking information, trail guides, field guides, and restrooms are available at the boathouse during its regular operating hours, daily from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. through the end of September. For more information, or updates on the status of boat rentals, call the Girffy Lake boathouse at (812) 349-3732. The Griffy Lake boathouse is located on Bloomington's north side at 3300 N. Headley Road.
