Mayor Encourages Support of INPIRG, September 11 Volunteerism
Bloomington, IN -- Mayor Mark Kruzan has announced his support of Indiana Public Interest Research Group's (INPIRG) campaign to fight homelessness and hunger in Bloomington.

INPIRG is participating in the September 11 National Day of Service by collecting spare change and food donations with the goal of raising $1,000 toward poverty relief.

"I'm happy to support INPIRG's efforts to help make a difference toward combating homelessness and hunger in our community," said Kruzan. "I also encourage the whole community to participate in one of the multiple volunteer opportunities in Bloomington on September 11."

INPIRG will be hosting tables to collect spare change and nonperishable food donations this Saturday at the Farmers' Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at Indiana University's Sample Gates from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Money collected will be used to support the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness, and collected food items will be given to the Hoosier Hills Food Bank. The group also will collect nonperishable food donations from a local neighborhood door-to-door between 4-6 p.m.
