The City of Bloomington and the Indiana Arts Commission Announce Grant Guidelines, Deadlines and Workshops for Region 8 Regional Initiative Grant (RIG) Program for FY12

The City of Bloomington and the Indiana Arts Commission announce grant guidlines, deadlines and workshops for the Regional Initiative Grant (RIG) program in Region 8 which includes Brown, Greene, Lawrence, Monroe, Morgan, and Owen counties.

The Regional Initiative Grant Program includes:

  • Arts Operating Support I & II (AOS I & II) - AOS I & II categories are specifically geared to Indiana arts and cultural organizations.
  • Arts Project Support (APS) and Mini Grants - APS/Mini grants are designed to support new and existing arts projects and activities produced or presented by an Indiana non-profit organization. The objective is to provide general public access to quality arts and cultural activities, with special attention to underserved communities, and to provide general public access to educational opportunities where Indiana citizens of all ages can learn about and experience different art forms and participate in arts activities.

The City of Bloomington will be hosting two grant application workshops for potential applicants. Both workshops will be free and will focus on the IAC's online grant application process for arts organizations in Region 8. Workshop attendance is not required for grant application; however, changes to grant guidelines and application process will be reviewed at each meeting, so attendance by potential applicants is encouraged.

The first workshop will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26 at the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library, 125 South Franklin Street, Bloomfield. The second workshop will be held on Friday, January 28, at City Hall, 401 N. Morton St. in the second floor computer training room. There will be two sessions offered: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and from 12:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Advance registration is requested for these workshops as space is limited. Please RSVP to Miah Michaelsen at [mailto:michaelm@bloomington.in.gov] or call 812-349-3534. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptop computers.

Guidelines for the Regional Initiative Grant program are available on the lower right side of this page for download and completed applications are due on April 1, 2011.
