In Celebration of Earth Month BEAD to Exhibit Works from the 2012 ECO-Heroes Award Competition

BLOOMINGTON, IN - During the month of April, the City of Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District (BEAD) will showcase artworks created by children participating in the Eco-Heroes Award Competition co-sponsored by the City of Bloomington Environmental Commission and the Office of the Mayor.

The Eco-Heroes Award Competition is an essay and art award for students in grades K-12 living in the city of Bloomington. The submissions are themed around the topic, "What I Do for the Environment." The competition is divided into four grade groups: K-2, 3-6, 7-8 and 9-12. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded for each group.

In addition to the honor of being named an Environmental Hero, each winner will be presented with a prize provided by one of the following local businesses: Bikesmiths, Bloomingfoods, Chocolate Moose, Cynthia Moriarty Catering, Eco Logic, Game Preserve, Global Gifts, Hoosier heights, IU Auditorium, Kid Kazooey, Laughing Planet, Mother Bears Pizza, Plato's Closet, Scholar's Inn Bakehouse, Soma Coffee, Taylor's Par 3, TIS Bookstore, Twisted Limb Paperwork, Upland Brewery, WonderLab and World Wide Auto. The award ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on April 18, 2012, in the Atrium of City Hall, 401 N. Morton St., and will be attended by Mayor Mark Kruzan.
